Idaho: Brain Injury Types

Brain Injury Lawyers

Second Impact Syndrome (SIS) occurs when a second brain injury occurs before the first one has healed. Second impact syndrome is also known as recurrent traumatic brain injury and is in most cases fatal for Idaho TBI victims. This brain injury often occurs in athletes who return to the game before their first brain injury, such as a concussion, has healed. Often the second impact occurs less than five minutes after the first injury. Even if the second impact is minor and does not cause the individual to become unconscious, the body may become unable to regulate blood flow to the brain, which can cause the brain to swell. Shortly after the second impact, the individual may collapse and experience ocular and respiratory failure.

If you or a loved one has developed second impact syndrome, fill out our free case review form on the right. A brain injury lawyer in Idaho will evaluate your claim to determine your eligibility for a lawsuit.
